Pagal. — Your hajurbuwa, after hearing the job description.
JPT News is looking for a social media manager. Your hajurbuwa hears this and immediately asks what kind of job requires you to be on your phone, write jokes, and have opinions about captions. Then he says one word: Pagal. Crazy. He is not entirely wrong about the phone. He is simply early to the editorial strategy.
This is not a post-and-pray job
We are looking for someone to run JPT News social: package stories, write captions, schedule posts, make the right joke at the right time, notice what people are actually sharing, and know when the internet needs one more post and when it needs to be left alone. You would help turn one story into a social post, a sharper caption, a visual, a short video, a reply, and occasionally a gentle correction. Not every post needs to become a national emergency. Many should become a good laugh and then leave.
Comedy is part of the job
You should be fond of comedy, humor, timing, and the small difference between a line that makes someone pause and a line that makes them close the app. You should know that a good caption does not explain the joke, beg for engagement, or arrive wearing a motivational quote. AI can generate thirty captions before your tea gets cold. It cannot reliably choose the one that makes someone send the post to a friend with, “This is you.” That choice is human work.
Yo post garne? Pahila heram.
Who we want
We want someone who can be funny without becoming exhausting. Someone who understands internet culture but does not confuse being online with having a point. Someone who can write clear English, use a Nepali phrase when it earns the moment, and keep satire visibly separate from fact. You might already run a page, make excellent group-chat commentary, manage a brand account, write comedy, edit videos, or know exactly why one post travelled while another disappeared without saying goodbye. You should be curious about why people stop, read, laugh, share, and scroll past.
The opportunity
JPT News is still building. That means you would not be joining a machine that already decided what it sounds like. You would help shape the social voice, build the posting rhythm, test formats, learn from the numbers, and figure out how a story should travel without sanding off everything interesting about it. You would work with writers, editors, AI tools, images, audio, and the occasional sentence that arrived with too much confidence. The job is to make the work feel alive when it leaves the article page.
Dare to earn differently
Dare to earn in an unconventional way: turn your comedic instinct, cultural radar, and daily internet habit into work with a point. The internet already pays people in attention. We are looking for someone who knows how to turn that attention into a publication. Pagal? Maybe. A real opportunity? Also maybe. At JPT News, we prefer a little uncertainty with our confidence.
Your hajurbuwa may still call it pagal
That is okay. Every new job sounds suspicious before it has a desk. You can explain that you are not simply scrolling. You are observing audience behavior, tracking cultural mood, and identifying the exact moment a joke should be posted. This is a more professional way of saying you are scrolling with deadlines. Both descriptions are accurate. One sounds better in a family meeting.
If this sounds like you
We will ask for one social post or caption you are proud of, one funny thing you noticed recently, and one account you think understands the internet. Tell us why. No corporate autobiography required. No declaration that you are passionate about disruption. Show us that you can notice the moment, shape the line, and make someone want to share it. Your hajurbuwa may say Pagal. JPT News may say: finally, someone qualified.
